Bishop Guy L. Glimp is the son of the late Superintendent James and Mother Hazel Glimp.

A son of the church, Bishop Glimp grew up and actively served at the Mt. Zion Church of God in Christ in Reading, PA under the leadership of his father until 1976. He moved to Philadelphia, PA and attended Holy Temple Church of God in Christ, where he was mentored by the late Bishop O. T. Jones, Jr.

In 1982, Bishop Glimp submitted to the call of God.  His heart for ministry matured while at Holy Temple.  After a decade of service, he was ordained by the late Bishop O.T. Jones Jr. in 1992.  Bishop Glimp was sent to Sanctuary Church of God in Christ, which is located in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia, PA. Sanctuary was founded by the late Pastor Otis T. Massey who served as president of the Charles Harrison Mason Foundation. In 1995, he was appointed pastor of Sanctuary Church of God in Christ.  Under his leadership, the ministry has experienced tremendous growth. His fundamental mission is to evangelize the lost, edify the believer, equip the saints for ministry and grow the local church.

In 2012, this multi-talented leader was appointed by the late Bishop Benjamin J. Ravenel as Third Administrative Assistant of the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ, affectionately known as “The Commonwealth.” Bishop Glimp also served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Jurisdiction with responsibility for all banking and investing activities for more than two decades.

On November 12, 2017, at the 110th Holy Convocation in St. Louis, MO, Bishop Glimp was consecrated Auxiliary Bishop by then Presiding Prelate of the Church of God in Christ, Inc., The Most Reverend, Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr.

On April 20, 2018, Bishop Ravenel, who faithfully served the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction as its leader, transitioned into eternal life.  On April 30, 2018, Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr., met with the superintendents, pastors, and leaders of the Jurisdiction to set things in order.  During that meeting he asked, “Who feels that they are called by God to lead this Historic Jurisdiction?” Bishop Guy L. Glimp rose to his feet and stood by the leading of the Holy Spirit.  Bishop Blake named himself the Interim Prelate of the Jurisdiction and with unanimous consent appointed Bishop Glimp as Assistant to the Bishop. On Friday, August 31, 2018 at the 98th Annual Holy Convocation of the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, the General Secretary of the Church of God in Christ, Bishop Joel H. Lyles, Jr., read the Letter of Appointment to the Office of Jurisdictional Prelate.  Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr., officially appointed and blessed Bishop Glimp as leader of the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. The General Assembly ratified the appointment of Bishop Glimp in November 2018.

In 2021, upon the retirement of Bishop Robert L. Hargrove as pastor of the Historic Holy Temple Church of God in Church, previously pastored by Bishop O. T. Jones, Sr., and Bishop O. T. Jones, Jr., Bishop Glimp was selected by Holy Temple membership as their pastor. He is pastor of both Holy Temple and Sanctuary Church of God in Christ.

In the National Church, Presiding Bishop J. Drew Sheard appointed Bishop Guy Glimp as CFO of the Leadership Conference, member of the Insurance and Retirement Committee, member of the Quality Assurance Team, and member of the Budget Committee.
